Book Fair

The PTO holds the Crow Island Book Fair annually.  It is a great place to find age-appropriate, worthwhile books for your family. Anderson’s Bookfair Company (ABC) provides a large assortment of books, guided by the Crow Island Resource Center staff. While shopping you will be able to see your student’s and teacher’s wishlists.

2022/2023 Dates: Wednesday, November 30th from 2:00 – 7:00 PM and Thursday, December 1st from 8:00 – 10:00 AM

2022/2023 Chairs:  Cara Brooks, Jaime Garrigus, Kristi Lohmeier, Diana Moustoukas, Heather Pfeffer, Amanda Sasse

For any questions, please contact crowislandprograms@gmail.com.

Run-a-Thon

The Annual Crow Island Run-a-thon is one of the PTO’s largest fundraising events of the year and is a school tradition dating back to 1985! This outdoor event engages the Crow Island community in a common goal around developing a healthy and active lifestyle while supporting the PTO and a local charity.

During the Run-a-thon, kids are encouraged to run or walk 30 laps around an assigned track. In the weeks leading up to the event, kids request and track donations from family and friends to support their participation in Run-a-thon. A portion of the proceeds will benefit the Misericordia Special Olympics Track & Field Team.

There are many ways for parents to participate: make a donation, volunteer to help during the event, and/or attend the event to take pictures, cheer on the runners, and be part of the fun! Parent volunteers are crucial to the success of Run-a-thon!

Date: Thursday, October 6, 2022

The 2022 Run-a-thon grade-specific schedule will be posted once available.

2022/2023 Committee Members: Kim Fiedler (chair), Lindsay Abert, Lauren Lewis and Ashley Sutphen

For any questions, please contact crowislandprograms@gmail.com.

Donations will be accepted by:

Run-a-thon Donations

The PTO welcomes and appreciates donations of any amount. All will be put to good use at the school! For those who would like a guideline, we suggest each donor contribute $3 per lap that the child plans to run.

Children in grades K-4 are encouraged to run or walk 30 laps.

If your child collects from multiple donors, we ask that you submit a single lump sum donation on behalf of your child(ren). Please click on the PayPal link below.

STEAM Expo

The annual Crow Island STEAM Expo allows our students a chance to explore their interests in science, technology, engineering, and math. The arts/design thinking will be integrated throughout. Participation is optional, but we find that the majority of our 2nd through 4th grade students choose to join in the fun.

Our annual STEAM Expo will be held across two days in February 2023, with additional information provided as we get closer to the Expo.

2022/2023 STEAM Expo Chairs: Wendy Grossman and Cynthia Rapp (Hopkins)

Field Day

Field Day is an eagerly anticipated end-of-the-year tradition at Crow Island.  Students participate in a variety of fun outdoor games and activities.   Each class has its own “team color” and works as a team to earn points.  It’s a great day for students, teachers, and parent volunteers!
