District 36 Strategic Plan and Portrait of a Graduate

The Winnetka Public Schools community has shared a deep commitment to Progressive Education for over 100 years. Our School Board, administrators, and staff are honored to continue our history of excellence by cultivating rich experiential learning opportunities and fostering the academic and social and emotional skills that our students need to thrive now and into the future. To further advance this important work, the District embarked on an ambitious Strategic Planning process starting in March 2020 with the involvement of over two-thousand contributors representing students, staff, parents, community members, and alumni. One of the results of this process is the District’s Portrait of a Graduate:

Crow Island Teacher and Staff Gift Fund

Please Contribute to the Annual Gift Fund for All Crow Island Teachers & Staff!

This is the only fundraising for teacher and staff holiday gifts and teacher end-of-year gifts. Contributions will continue to ensure that our teachers receive a generous monetary gift, and it also makes sure that assistant teachers, specials teachers, special education teachers, aides, administrators, custodians, crossing guards – anyone who impacts the education and welfare of the students -receives a monetary holiday gift. In addition, this fund provides the end-of-year gift to classroom and assistant teachers.

Parent Teacher Organization

The Crow Island Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) is a volunteer organization that oversees programs at our school.  There are more than 50 committees requiring chairpersons and volunteers. It takes more than 250 volunteers to run the PTO’s programs each school year.

The PTO manages and funds a variety of programs and events each year to develop, enhance and support Crow Island students and teachers in all aspects of the school environment. Programs run throughout the year and some are big while others are small. Whatever your commitment ability may be, there’s always an opportunity to get involved. See the descriptions below for all the PTO programs.

For questions about volunteer opportunities, please contact the VP of Programs via email at [email protected].  Please consider how you can get involved and thank you in advance for your interest.
